For a real outing or another deliberate listening window. After you start it, Nonstop listens while you view EavesJam and is designed to continue when you switch apps or lock the phone. It uses more battery and can still miss songs or be interrupted by iOS. Stop it yourself, or set a 1, 2, 4, or 8 hour timer.
Quick Checks
For casual curiosity. It samples for a few seconds every few minutes, sips less battery, and might miss songs in between - that's the trade-off.

Streaming's on. Hands are on the wheel.
Start before you pull out. The Lock Screen shows that listening is active, and the recognized songs and any gaps are waiting when you park.

EavesJam saves recognized song metadata, favorites, folders, listening-window records, settings, diagnostics, and battery measurements on device. It does not save raw microphone audio.
It uses the microphone and Apple recognition.
EavesJam listens through the iPhone microphone and uses Apple's ShazamKit to match music. It cannot capture headphone audio, phone calls, or audio playing only inside another app.
You stay in control.
You start and stop each session, and you can delete the local library from Settings. Nonstop listens while you view EavesJam and is designed to continue after you switch apps or lock the phone, but iOS can interrupt it and recognition is never guaranteed complete. If it missed a stretch, the timeline says so.

Questions people ask
Is EavesJam a Shazam replacement?
No - it uses Apple's ShazamKit for recognition. The difference is that you start one controlled Nonstop session before an outing, then review a private on-device timeline of the songs it recognized and the gaps it recorded.
Does EavesJam record or store audio?
EavesJam uses live microphone audio to create compact acoustic signatures for Apple's ShazamKit service, but it does not retain raw audio. The signatures are used transiently for matching.
Does it keep listening when my phone is locked?
Once you start Nonstop, EavesJam listens while you view the app and is designed to keep listening after you switch apps or lock the phone. iOS can still interrupt a session, so EavesJam shows interrupted or no-match periods instead of guaranteeing complete capture.
Will it catch every song?
No. Loud rooms, unsupported tracks, microphone distance, and iOS interruptions can cause gaps. It also cannot capture headphone audio or audio playing only inside another app. The timeline shows gaps instead of implying complete capture.
How much battery does it use?
Long sessions use meaningful battery, and how much depends on your phone's age and battery health - so instead of guessing, EavesJam measures the actual drain on your device and shows you. There's a lighter Quick Checks mode, plus an optional auto-stop timer (1 to 8 hours).
What does it cost, and is there an Android version?
The beta is free on iPhone (iOS 18 or later). When it reaches the App Store it'll be a paid app - testers get it free. No Android version yet.
